The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District is a registered, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the promotion and development of the arts in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area.
Mission Statement
The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District is committed to enhancing quality of life in the community by promoting and fostering the arts in all forms and by encouraging education in, and appreciation of, all aspects of the arts.
Mandate
The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District (ACSSMD) is dedicated to encouraging and developing the arts in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District. Our artistic vision grows out of the success of our new and existing programs; and by offering support to artists, art associations, our membership and the creative community at large. We contribute to the development of entrepreneurial skills of artists. Our intention is to make the ACSSMD a thriving, vibrant and creative community.
Currently the ACSSMD plays a significant role in advocating for the inclusion of arts in the community. We are an umbrella association representing many member groups and individuals. Currently all of our members have individual program policies and personal aspirations. Accordingly, our main priority is working closely with the community. As different as the members may be in terms of their programs, size, duration or financing, we can still assist them appropriately.
