ARTIST PROFILE

WebbSurround

WebbSurroundMy name is Peggy Webb, and I’d like to tell you a little about WebbSurround, a musical ensemble consisting of 5 members of my family, 3 directly and 2 indirectly. Our oldest daughter, Kayla, and I do not play instruments or get on stage, but we are very proud to support Bill, Claryssa and Todd in many other ways. Someone has to keep things organized! As far as on stage talent is concerned, the group consists of father Bill Webb, 13 year-old daughter Claryssa, and 6 year-old little brother Todd.
Bill is a well-known local musician who has also performed in several Community Theatre musical productions, the latest being the Beast in last fall’s “Beauty and the Beast”.

Claryssa lives for music, and takes it very seriously. Her commitment and determination exudes on stage, and is the reason she shines when she performs. Even though she is still very young, she is quite a versatile performer who keeps her audience entertained playing the violin/fiddle, cello, piano, mandolin, penny whistle, and mountain dulcimer. And then, in a full auditorium, you can hear a pin drop when she starts to sing. Although her music lessons, practicing, and performances keep her very busy, she still finds time for school, friends, and just being a teenager.

Todd is following in his sister’s footsteps, playing the violin/fiddle, piano, and guitar. The unique thing about Todd is the fact that walking on stage for him is just like walking into his kitchen. Many people comment how natural he is in front of people. He too is very busy with his music, but also finds time for school, sports, friends, and driving his sisters crazy.
Just your typical six-year old!

Our family’s main goal is to have a positive impact on our community. We see a need for the gift of giving. Even though their wide range of musical styles allows them to play many venues like schools, service clubs, churches, weddings, funerals, banquets, anniversaries, and monthly in the Steamy Bean to name a few, playing for paid performances is not necessarily the most rewarding for the group. The real “rush” comes from giving their time while performing at nursing homes, Community Living Algoma, local churches, the Soup Kitchen, and the hospital. It’s contagious and anyone can get involved. You need not look far to find someone who could use a helping hand - take someone for a walk who is not able to go out on their own, read to someone who has lost their sight, buy a movie ticket for someone who could not afford it otherwise, and you will have received the gift of giving.

When it comes to giving great music, WebbSurround definitely has the gift.
