ARTIST PROFILE
Richard Howard - Pull Chain Theatre
Richard Howard started Pull Chain Theatre simply by accident in 1991. Howard was looking for a room where he could continually work with actors. He contacted the Purple Lantern and they agreed to allow him the use of their banquet hall. Pull Chain Theatre has been thriving ever since.
Pull Chain offers seven productions of dinner theatre every year: in September, October, early December, February (week of Valentine's Day), end of April, June, and July. Their productions attract audiences from far and wide, including Toronto, London, North Bay, Sudbury, Detroit, and Wisconsin. In fact, the theatre has been referred to by some patrons as the most prolific and versatile acting company north of Toronto.
Richard Howard, Artistic Director, has brought actors in from out of town to star in some of his productions. Sharon & Bob Sproule have starred in a few productions, including the recent romantic comedy, "Beau Jeste".
Howard, born in Port Huron, Michigan, and raised in Southern Ontario, has been involved with community theatre for 55 years! He has directed and held workshops, and has adjudicated in Canada, United Stated, England, and Australia. In total, he has directed over 400 plays and held workshops in over 50 communities in Ontario alone.
Richard has moved Pull Chain to the Windsor Park. A buffet is served at each production. The entrée changes, based on the genre of the play. The Sunday matinee features a beautiful brunch.
Richard has been very generous towards area businesses. He has
never turned down a merchant's request for help. He has always donated
tickets for the Arts Council's annual Show Ticket Bonanza Raffle,
and has supported us in many other ways. Thank you, Richard!
