Sandra Houston
Even though she has produced countless plays and musicals in and around Sault Ste. Marie over the past three decades, Sandra Houston is one of those "behind-the-scenes" people that rarely get seen in the photos and newspaper write-ups.
Starting out with the Sault Theatre Workshop and producing a play for her husband, Harry, Sandra has gone on to work with many local groups. These include the Musical Comedy Guild, Stage North, and the Over The Rainbow children's entertainment series.

Sandra Houston's organizational skills and leadership have led her to board memberships and executive positions with various arts organizations. If you were to begin to log the hours that Sandra spends on computers, on telephones, and at meetings and rehearsals, you would quickly realize that her contribution to the local art scene is enormous. It is the behind-the-scenes workers like Sandra Houston that make it possible for us to have such rich cultural representation in our city. Photo by Harry Houston |
Currently, Sandra is on the board of Theatre Ontario, representing the Quonta Drama Region, with meetings in Toronto several times a year. She is also a former president of the Quonta Region and is still very active on their executive. She is a valued member on the Board of Directors for Sault Theatre Workshop and chair of the Theatre Ontario Festival Committee.
