Bluebird Lane Stained Glass
Michelle Modette strongly feels that “Country living is like food for the soul with peacefulness and simplicity that can be matched by none other.”
She is an experienced stained glass artist with a passion for colour and an eye for detail. It is easy to see that she is inspired by Mother Nature’s palette.
She resides in Leeburn with her husband and two year old son on the McKay family farm now hosting six generations.
With ‘Family and roots” being top priority, Michelle had decided that being home with a young child is the only place for a Mom to be, and returning to work after the birth of her son was out of the question.
The idea of a studio where she could have her work for sale had always been a dream of hers and this past summer her dream became a reality. “ I have always had an interest in business – I’ve worked in retail for twenty years with five and a half years being at Glassworks, the stained glass shop in Sault Ste. Marie.” Combining experience, knowledge and a small addition to her home she now works out of her studio-based business “Bluebird Lane.” The lights go on every morning at 4:45 a.m. where you will find her diligently working and creating and loving every minute of it.
Bluebird Lane has a very unique shopping atmosphere as everything is handmade and displays are constantly changing. What you might see this week, you might not see next week. A cup of tea or coffee and a treat is always part of the visit, making the customer feel more at home.
Michelle keeps regular business hours although she does participate in craft/art shows throughout Algoma and finds it necessary to be closed once in a while.
Michelle stocks supplies, equipment, and glass for hobbyists of all levels. In addition to providing the necessary materials, she carries the “Stained Glass News” and is happy to give out free advice and help whenever needed. She also teaches classes and offers seasonal workshops. For information call 705-736-1082.
