ARTIST PROFILE: Gordon Stone

A Stone Original
Gordon is a self taught inspirational writer, poet and photographer. His philosophy is “if we re-cognize opportunities with the necessary skills we can meet the challenger to realize the interconnectedness of all things”. His current passion is photography. His gift is an eye for composition. His mission is “to capture that special moment in time, to connect people with all of God’s creation, and to reach out and touch others with images not often noticed”.

Gordon Stone Gordon knew he had arrived when “Touched by the Spirit of God” was accepted in his first juried show, “Algoma Festival of Arts”. This was topped off by the sale of “Touched by the Spirit of God”, purchased as a gift for a pastor and his wife for twelve years of service to their church. Gordon was so high, you couldn’t scrape him off the ceiling. He literally flew around the Art Gallery for two days. Everybody knew.

His photography can be found in homes in Michigan, Texas, Nevada, Ireland, Nova Scotia to British Columbia. His books of poetry can also be found in the United States, and Australia, as well as throughout Ontario.

Gordon has recently become a member of a group called the “North Channel Writers” - Thessalon to Sault Ste. Marie - who meet monthly to write, critique, challenge and encourage each other as they hone their creative skills. This will provide Gordon with an outlet for his other passion, writing poetry. His mission is to marry his two passions and create a book of poetry illustrated with his photography of Algoma.
